President's Message
As we enter our 107th year of operations at the River Forest Tennis Club, I continue to be truly impressed by the level of membership involvement. It seems to increase every season, and is the backbone of the success of the RFTC. To everyone, Christie and I say “Thank you!”
Our club is a truly unique facility in the center of our beautiful towns, with a dozen families that have been members for over 50 years, and scores more that are decades into their membership and experience. Those facts alone speak volumes to the heritage of the RFTC and dedication of our membership. Christie and I have had the opportunity to get to know you and your families, and for that we are grateful.
In 2011, you should expect to see a blend of old and new - maintaining our traditions as the core of our activities, while using modern-day technology and capabilities to enhance member services and enjoyment at the club. I encourage you to use our website as a resource and visit it regularly for timely updates and helpful information. To balance the high-tech side, in 2011 we will resurrect some of the traditional social activities on which the RFTC is founded. Details to come.
As a “lifer” at the club, I’m humbled and delighted to have the opportunity to serve as your president this season. Each president has the opportunity to put a small personal stamp on the RFTC, so Christie and I have a few initiatives in progress designed to enhance the long-standing social focus of the club, while simultaneously developing the athletic activities and progress of our youth. Stay tuned...
As an institution that lives and breathes the age-old saying “The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it”, the RFTC thrives on its membership involvement. Many of you already know that, others of you are learning that, and hopefully all of you will experience that during your tenure. I look forward to you seeing you around the grounds a lot this year and in future seasons, and our door is always open for ideas and suggestions.
See you soon: on the ice rink, in the pool, and of course, on the courts!
Jim
